The name of the new Hub, for which a large number of suggestions have been submitted, will be announced shortly – and soon after that there’ll be a new sign above that door, and a new photo to enthuse you. Stay tuned for that, and for an announcement of the opening date.
Once the Hub is up and running there will be a renewed fund-raising drive, to ensure that its future is secure, and an initiative to enlarge the roster of people who’ll staff it for its target of five days a week. Of course, if you’d like to offer practical or financial support before that, you’ll be very welcome – just drop us a line with your details and we’ll pass them on to the Hub team.
On to coming events. Our handy ‘What’s On’ guide covers most of them as usual, but we’d just like to draw attention to a couple. The first is the All Under One Banner march in Aberdeen this coming Saturday (17 August), for which there are still a few spaces left on the Yes Perth City bus. The fare is £15 return and the bus will depart Broxden at 10:30 am – book your ticket here.
The second is the Perth AUOB march and rally, which takes place on Saturday 7 September. The organisers will require helpers to fulfil various roles; please read about them here and, if you think one of them might be suitable for you, don’t hesitate to volunteer. The march should be a huge event in itself, but it’s also part of a wider weekend of festivities – the AUOB Perth Yes Weekend, Friday 6 to Sunday 8 September. To find out more about that and discover when new events are added, keep an eye on the Facebook page.
All in all, it’s an exciting time to be a Yes supporter in Perth! We’ll be back in touch with further updates in the next week or so. In the meantime, keep those interesting conversations with friends, relatives and colleagues going…
